So... You Want to

Get on The Actor's Bone,

Do You?

Aaaah, just as suspected... you've checked out The Actor's Bone, liked what you saw, and now you want more information!

Good! Good! Good!

Thanks for the interest in getting your poor self a bone!

After reading this page, you'll have an idea of what gets your kisser on the site. If you need more personalized answers to your questions go somewhere else... JUST KIDDING ! ! ! Just send an email to jerzboy AT actorsbone.com and you'll get answers.

And now, the information you're looking for...

One of the main goals for The Actor's Bone is to provide 24/7 access to the head shots and resumes of talented professional LA based actors (that's Los Angeles not Louisiana). We don't want just any actors on the site. Successful casting off The Actor's Bone depends on maintaining a higher than average level of talent. We want to keep our good reputation. Who doesn't?

A good resume has credits that show you're serious about acting as a career... that means theatrical education as well as production credits. The special skills listed on your resume should be things at which you excel, not just stuff you think you can do (just about everyone plays baseball or jogs... not a special skill, know what I mean?). If you list a sport, you should have played competitively (and probably won more often than lost). Other skills should be listed that make you stand out from the crowd. If you're a good enough magician to do nightclubs, that would be a great skill to list. Check out the resumes already on the site and see what I'm talking about.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO GET ON THE SITE?

  1. Location, location, location
You must be local to Los Angeles. Not negotiable.
  2. You must have a professional level resume and headshots
If you resume has quality training and respectable credits and you have standard black & white or color professional headshots you are welcome to get yourself a bone!
  3. How much does it cost?
Ah, yes, that ugly question. Well, as I'm sure you already know, nothing in life is free, and this web site is no exception. We figure that in the not too distant future, we'll get rich enough from our acting, but in the meanwhile, we'd like to at least cover the expenses associated with running this very reputable site. So... let's make it an even $20.00 dollars per year.
This fee will get you a page with up to three pictures and resume. We scan in your pictures and enter the text. We really like credits that have hyperlinks (this adds to the multimedia experience of an on-line resume). We'll update your resume at least once a month if needed (contact information updated more often, if necessary). Your pictures may be color or black and white.
Of special note here is that we gave a lot of actors free pages to get our site going. Once we got to the 100 actor mark (as of January 1, 2001) AND saw that we were getting regular traffic AND that some of our actors were actually getting work from having their stuff posted here, we didn't see the point in "giving it away." So, we're just trying to cover what we figure to be time and trouble.
One of the other main reasons that we collect a posting fee is something you learn in Economics 101... "If you do not value your own service, nobody else will." This has been shown to us first hand... people who have paid to join this site tend to take more of an active role in this site's success than people who were given spots for free. Paid members have a stronger interest in the success of this site. Paid members keep their pages and contact information updated more often. Paid members will promote the site themselves, because they realize that the more traffic coming to the site the more their face will be seen. This site depends on word of mouth and the ability to deliver professional level actors.
  4. How will people contact you?
We'll list your email address on your page. Sorry no phone numbers (except for agencies or managers). Trust us on this one. It's for your own good, and we're looking out for you. There's a lot of riff raff on the world wide web. If you have your own web page, we can link to it too. If you've got an agent or manager we'll put their address and phone number.
  5. Do you need to be union?

No, but you should really be trying to become SAG eligible. Yup, it's a Catch-22 when you're just starting out, but if you want to be seen as professional, you need those three letters on your resume.
  6. Anything else I need to know?
Yes, again, your input to this site will make it work better for you. You will get more out of this site if you put more into it. If you just want a place to post you picture and resume on-line, you can set up a page on many other sites for free. If you just post your picture and wait for people to contact you, chances are slim that you will be contacted, but, if you get to know people through our online forum (The Bone-Yard) or other online forums, add to the content of this site by helping to ad pages, and promote the site in any other manner you can, more people will see your face and resume, and the more "connections" you will make. And connections are a valuable commodity in this business.
  7. Now what do you do?

Send us your stuff. Snail mail or email your pictures (3 is the limit, black & white or color) and resume and snail mail your payment (check or money order payable to "Paul Molinaro".
