Clifford Odets
Biography:
Born 1906 in Philadelphia, PA. Joined the famous
Group Theater in 1931. By the end of the 1930's he had become a leading
American playwright. Many of his works discussed strong social themes and
were written as a result of the Great Depression. These social works
include Waiting for Lefty (1935), Till the Day I Die (1935),
and Golden Boy (1937). His film scripts include The
General Died at Dawn (1936), None But the Lonely Heart (1944), and The
Big Knife (1955). Died 1963. |
