Biography:
Born 1912 in Rochester, New York. Started out as a jazz
musician and vaudeville comedian in the 1920's. Graduated from New York's American Academy of
the Dramatic Arts in 1933. As well as writing, he is also an established director, and his
directing credits include Hitch Your Wagon (1937), True Glory (1945),
The
Diary of Anne Frank (1955) and Funny Girl (1964).
